Christmas Reflections - Day 1
Updated: Dec 8, 2021
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel - Isaiah 7:14
Immanuel - God with us. This is the prophecy that was given about 700 years before the birth of Christ. Prophecy is crucial to the gospel message and Isaiah gave a lot of prophecies about the birth of Christ. In 7:14, he revealed the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ. He prophesied that the Virgin will give birth to a son and his name will be called Immanuel. This prophecy is very central in the New Testament.
In the book of Luke 1:26- 38, we also have the angel Gabriel coming to Mary to inform her of the birth of the Messiah through her - a virgin. The name Immanuel means God with us. As we look forward to Christmas, this prophecy should be an encouragement to us that the name Immanuel - God with us is an encouragement for us to know that no matter what life throws at us, as God's children he is ever present with us.
I pray that as you go through this Christmas season the presence of the Lord will be with you and as you reflect on this miracle of the virgin birth, be assured that there is nothing too difficult for God to do.
The Lord broke every human barrier in order to come into our world. Trust the Lord by faith to break every barrier hindering you. The Lord did something spectacular for the world by the coming of Jesus and he can do something new in your life as well.
As the Lord prepared the world for the birth of the Messiah, how prepared are you for what the Lord is set to do?
And how prepared are you to give him space in your life?
Immanuel - God is indeed with us.
